The Muirhouse Core Group have been making “story sacks”. They each chose a book that had some meaning for them or their child and designed materials to bring the story to life – toys, interesting objects, activities, non-fiction books and Gruffalo parts made of clay!
We had fun, stretched our imaginations and creativity and thought about different ways of telling stories and learning from them with our children. It was also great for people to see a project through from start to finish.
People were keen to use them to get more quality time with their children, play imaginatively, share stories from their own childhood and develop speech and language.
We now have a resource that people can borrow to help bring storytelling into their homes!
